International Study Tour to Telecom Ecole De Management, Paris, France

MITSOM College had organized International Study Tour to Telecom Ecole De Management, Paris, France from 6th May to 17th May 2016. 10 students along with Prof. Sumita Joshi and Prof.Kalyani Belsare participated in the said tour.

The study tour was an ideal blend of lectures at the University, Company Visits and live case study. Students were able to experience the rich campus life and got an exclusive opportunity to attend many informative lectures delivered at the University campus as well as during industry visits.

Following lectures and visits were attended by the students and faculty members:

  • “European Economics” – Prof. Michol Berne
  • “Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior: French Perspective – Dr. Bhumika Gupta
  • “B2B Marketing in Information age” – Prof. Paul Lapoule
  • “The case study methodology in Business and Management” - Prof. Paul Lapoule
  • “Global Corporate Social Responsibility” – Prof. Anais
  • “Wine Marketing and Merchandising” - Prof .Paul Lapoule
  • “Social Innovation” – Prof. Anais
  • Visit UNESCO, Paris
  • Visit to Mineralogy Museum , Paris, France

The students were also allowed to use all college facilities which include basket ball court, swimming pool, gym, volley ball court and various other facilities in the campus.

The students visited Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Arc De Triomphe, Louvre Museum, MontMantre The palace of Versaii in Paris and also Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.

Overall this tour enriched the students and the faculty member who felt that it was a lifetime experience.

United Kingdom

International Study to Cardiff University, Wales, UK

MITSOM College had organized International study tour to Cardiff University, Wales, UK in the month of June 2015. 11 students along with Prof. Sumita Joshi and Prof.Sheetal Gaur participated in the said tour.

The study tour was an ideal blend of lectures at the university and Industrial visits. Students were able to experience the rich campus life and got an exclusive opportunity to attend many informative lectures delivered at the University campus as well as during industry visits.

Following lectures were attended by the students and faculty members:

  • “A rough guide to Welsh.” - Prof. Sioned Davies
  • “How brands sell themselves to the World.” - Prof.Elliot Pill
  • “Business Models and Sustainability.” - Prof. Peter Wells
  • “Game Theory & It’s Applications.” - Prof. Indrajit Ray
  • “A competitive market bidding Simulation” and “Mental Accounting for Savings and Debt.” – Prof. James Foreman-Peck
  • “Six Sigma” was the potential lecture by Dr. Maneesh Kumar and the example of Six Sigma given by the professor was the “Mumbai’s Dabbawallas”.

Then we took a tour of the National Assembly of Wales. Cardiff Castle, Cardiff Bay and for a Hop On-Hop Off Bus Tour of the city.

The students visited Big Pit National Coal Museum which is the biggest coal mine and the guides there were actually miners who had worked there for years. Students also got an opportunity to visit National Assembly of Wales, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff Castle in Cardiff.

After completing Summer School in Cardiff University students got an opportunity to visit attractions in London such as The London Eye, Madame Tussauds, The city bus tour, Trafalgar Square, Lord’s cricket stadium and so on. Overall this tour enriched the students and the members of the staff who felt that it was a lifetime experience.

USA

International Study to the University Of Tennessee, USA

Tour Duration: 1st October to 10th October 2015

MITSOM College had organized International Study Tour to The University of Tennessee, USA from 1st October to 10th October 2015. 10 students along with Prof. Sumita Joshi participated in the said tour.

The study tour was an ideal blend of lectures at the University, Industry Visits and live case study. Students were able to experience the rich campus life and got an exclusive opportunity to attend many informative lectures delivered at the University campus as well as during industry visits.

Following lectures were attended by the students and faculty members:

  • “Market Place – Venture Capital” – Dr.Earnest Cadott
  • “Water Management” – Dr.Joanne Logan
  • “Emerging trends in Supply Chain Management and Transportation – Dr.Mary Holcomb
  • A visit to Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Business Simulation initiated by Innovative Learning Solutions was the unique experience for the students. Dr.Earnest Cadott, Fisher Professor of Innovative Learning, University of Tennessee is the founder of market place. The student got an opportunity to work on the advance model of business simulation throughout the week. The core concept behind this simulation is about the carbon fiber bikes which is a new technology that has come up in the market. Many firms at international level have recently licensed the technology to build carbon fiber bikes using an additive manufacturing process, more popularly known as 3D –printing. With this new material, it will be possible to make bicycle parts with carbon fiber, a material stronger and lighter than metal.

Dr. Ernest Cadott had scheduled a live case study on safe drinking water - product by P&G where in the American students were paired with Indian students to carry out an experiment with the water of the river of Tennessee. It was an interactive session. The students shared their ideas for launching this product in Indian market.

The students also enjoyed Saudi Cooking demonstration by Saudi Arabian students and could taste spicy Saudi food. The Visit to the Neyland Football stadium was quite amazing. The students were also allowed to use all college facilities which include basket ball court, swimming pool, gym, volley ball court and various other facilities.

The students also got the unique opportunity to visit an American house of Michael, where they witnessed the American culture, food, lifestyle, home-designs, and their lovely pleasant nature.

The students visited Georgia Aquarium- (Largest Aquarium in the World), World of Coca Cola, Atlantic Station, CNN Center in Atlanta.

The “smoky mountain hike” and jumps into the cold streams will always be cherished in memories of the students. Overall this tour enriched the students and the faculty member who felt that it was a lifetime experience.

Study Tour to University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida - 2011

Tour Duration: 24th November 2011 to 6th December 2011

MITSOM College had organized an International Study Tour to the University of South Florida [USF], Tampa, Florida. The invitation for the said visit was extended by USF. 16 students and 2 faculty members [Mrs. Pallavi Adya, BBM-IB and Ms. Sumita Joshi, BBA] participated in this campus visit. Upon arrival, the students and faculty members were welcomed by Dr. Roger Brindley [Associate Vice President for Global Academic Programmes] at the USF Campus.

Study Tour to University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida - 2012

MITSOM College again visited the University of South Florida [USF] as a part of its study tour program. Ms. Sudeepta Banerjee and Mr. Gautam Bapat accompanied the students for the said tour. MITSOM College students were able to experience the rich campus life and got an exclusive opportunity to attend many informative lectures delivered at the USF campus.

MITSOM College in association with University of South Florida, conducts an Educational Study Tour to United States of America every year.This year Prof. Vinaya Nimbolkar and Prof. Vaibhav Joshi accompanied the students for the said tour. This tour includes class room sessions at University of South Florida for 8 days on Business Analytics, Analytics in Accounting, Analytics in Finance, Analytics in Marketing, Writing Skills and Business Intelligence for the students of BBA, BCA, BBM(IB) and MCA. This year the tour was conducted from 12th to 22nd May 2013. The visit to Tampa Campus of USF includes visit to Tampa Beach, Florida Aquarium. After the training programme at USF, students were taken to NASA. Visit to Kennedy Space Centre of NASA becomes an exceptional learning experience for the students. The tour concludes with two days visit to Disney Land which adds the fun element to tour.

International study tour to La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia - August 2014

A study tour to La Trobe University was organized by MIT-SOM College for its students in the month of August 16th to 28th, 2014. This tour was a mix of Learning at University and at Industry and some sightseeing.

The journey started on August 16th morning from college campus to Mumbai International airport with a batch of 11 students and one faculty. The faculty in charge was Prof. Vaibhav A. Joshi.

We reached Melbourne on 17th Aug Morning 6:15. As for us this day was to settle down at hotel and the city, we rested for some time and all went out together to know the nearby areas. The hotel booked by the University was at the centre of the city.

University interaction started from August 18th. As per the schedule a student representative of La Trobe University Ms. Ustashia Pillai came to receive us at the hotel. First we visited the wild life sanctuary located at the university campus followed by the university campus tour and have visited different faculties of study & facilities available out there. We saw the lecture pattern & system of education for their students. Further, we went to see the student’s sports centre. We were able to see all the facilities out there.

In the next session Dr. Suzanne zygire, Associate Dean - International introduced all of us to the university, its history, different faculties and courses. Further she guided us about the entire tour. After having lunch at university we went to see the university library. The librarian Ms. Nikol guided us on all sections of the library. She showed us how library works and how students use online system of the library with practical example. All our students were impressed by the updated and technology supported library system. Two alumni of our college who are presently studying at la Trobe Mr. Akul Agrawal & Mr. Karan Gujar came to see us all. They shared their experience of education at La Trobe and congratulated all for coming on this study tour.

Second day i.e. on August 19 we had two lectures one on Business information systems by Dr. Suzanne Zygire and followed by a session on the accounting & finance profession in Australia by Associate Professor Darren Henry. After lunch we had a tour to the city campus of La Trobe University which is dedicated for the programs like MBA and masters programs in various fields of Business Administration and management including sports management and entrepreneurship management. We were able to interact with the head of MBA program at this campus Mrs. Manisha Sangekar and Mr. Andrew peters who is the senior development officer at this campus of La Trobe.

In the evening we were fortunate enough to be able to visit the Parliament of Victoria state of Australia from inside. We actually visited both the upper house and the lower house of the parliament and fortunately both the houses were functional at that time. We saw how the members of parliament were arguing over a bill on "safety issue at night" in the state. At the end we were fortunate enough to interact with the speaker of the parliament and one of the elected senior members too.

On August 20, 2014, two lectures were arranged at La Trobe University. The first lecture was on "Strategic Communication" by Dr. Kevin Brianton, Lecturer in Strategic Communication. It was an interactive and informative session.

For the second lecture we were fortunate to attend a regular lecture meant for La trobe University students. We were given a chance to attend their lecture on "digital communities" by Prof. Richard Stone. This was altogether different lecture than what we had till date. The style of teaching was different and learning pattern of La Trobe students was different too. Further, in the afternoon session after the lunch at the University campus, we went to visit "MCG" i.e. Melbourne Cricket Ground. This was a guided tour at the stadium. We were able to see the entire stadium the stand and the special rooms for teams, media and others and the sports Museum in and out.

On August 21, 2014 we had visited the Bendigo Campus of La Trobe University. One of our alumni Mr. Akul Agrawal who is studing at Melbourne campus came with us for the entire day at Bendigo Campus. This campus is very different from the Bandura campus (Main campus). Lisa Farrar - Senior International Development Manager and Indian Students studying at that campus welcomed us. Further we had two small presentations by Dr. Jane Hamilton, Professor Accounting and Andrew Butt, Faculty of Humanities and social sciences on the prospective opportunities in their respective subjects for our students. It was followed by the campus tour with the Present Indian students on the campus.

Further, after having lunch we visited the Rural Health Clinical School where Garald Brennan, Manager introduced us with the activities and courses offered by the school followed by the campus tour. This was followed by visit to Bendigo Bank Head quarters as a part of industry visit. Further we visited the Gold Mine. A surface tour was organized by the La Trobe University.

On August 22, 2014 schedule started with visit to Victoria Market which was followed by a lecture on marketing specifically on "Source Messages and Channel factors ". It was a combined lecture with the La Trobe students. Further a session by Louis clay, Senior International Admission coordinator was organized on how to secure their admission in La Trobe. This was followed by Formal Certificate distribution through the hands of Dr. Suzanne Zyngire, Associate Dean (International), La Trobe University.

On August 23, 2014 we headed for a guided tour to the Penguins Philip Island organized by La Trobe University. First we went to see a zoo and then to the chocolate factory where we were able to see the actual process of making chocolates and packing. Further we went to the Philip Island to see "Penguin Parade". These penguins were very small approximately 1/4 size of our hand unlike those who are found in Antarctica. Due to the strict rules unfortunately photography was not allowed.

On August 24, 2014 we started our journey towards Sydney. We went to see the "Bendigo Beach" followed by world famous "Darling Harbor" and "Opera House". At the end we went to see the "Madam Tussads Wax Musium".

On August 25, 2014 we started our journey towards "Blue Mountains". There we went to see the mountains known as "Three Sisters". These mountains reflect blue colors so are also known as "Blue Mountains". Further we went to the "Scenic World" where old coal mines are preserved on one side of mountains and on the other side of mountains they have the working coal mines. At the same place we saw and traveled through "Train Ways" "Rope Ways" & "Sky Ways" to see the top view of Blue Mountains and the beautiful areas nearby. They have converted the place into a beautiful tourist destination and coal museum too.

On last day i.e. August 26, 2014 we went to the capital city of Australia "Canberra". We were fortunate to see the national parliament house from inside. We were able to sit inside the house for about half an hour when the parliament was at work. We all were able to see and hear the discussions, question & answer sessions. We were lucky to see and hear the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, Finance Minister, the Treasurer, Leader of Opposition and many more leaders. It was one of our best experiences for our life time. On 27th august morning we started our journey back from Sydney to Mumbai, India. On 28th August morning we all reached college campus.

The entire tour was a combination of study at University, exposure to new opportunities for higher education at La Trobe University, industry visits & interaction and sightseeing which was the memorable experience of life.

Second Tour to La Trobe University Melbourne Australia was organized by MITSOM College in the month of March 2014. 11 Students from BBA/BCA/BBM(IB) with 2 faculties members Prof. Sudeepta Banerjee & Prof. Gautam Bapat participated in this tour. MITSOM College students attended lectures on various topics related to Marketing, Media Management, Finance and Career Guidance. Students visited La Trobe’s Bendigo campus from where they visited gold mine and learned about mining activity carried out in 18th and 19th century.

After the campus experience students visited city of Sydney where they visited Sydney Harbor to get a practical knowledge of “Port Management”. Overall this tour enriched the students and the members of the staff who felt that it was a lifetime experience.

International study tour to La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia - 2013

MITSOM College in association with La Trobe University Melbourne Australia had organized International study tour from 7th to 13th September 2013. 11 Students from BBA/BCA/BBM(IB) with 2 faculties members Prof. Pallavi Adya and Prof. Sumita Joshi and Asst. Registrar of college Mr. Laxman Badime paricipated in this tour. During their stay at La Trobe University students attended lectures on various topics related to Marketing, Branding, Sports Management and Sports Economics. Students visited La Trobe’s Bendigo campus from where they visited gold mine and learned about mining activity carried out in 18th and 19th century. After the campus experience students visited city of Sydney where they visited Sydney Harbour to get a practical knowledge of “ Port Logistics and Management”. They saw the actual International trade being carried out from Australia.

Overall this tour enriched the students and the menbers of the staff who felt that it was a lifetime experience .

Sweden

International Study to Sweden

MITSOM College had organized International study tour to Sweden in the month of June 2014. The said study tour was in association with Triple Steelix Corporation, Sweden, University of Dalarna in the Falun- Borlange region of Sweden and Jernkontoret (Swedish Steel Producers Association). 8 students along with Prin. Dr. R. M. Chitnis, Dr. Anjali Sane and Prof. Sumita Joshi participated in the said tour.

The study tour was an ideal blend of lectures at the university and Industrial visits to steel companies. Students also made Industry Visits to the following organizations:
1. SSAB – Leading steel producer
2. ABB - Global leader in power and automation technologies
3. Atlas Copco - World-leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions
4. Sandvik - High-technology, engineering group with advanced products and world-leading positions within selected areas
5. Dellner - World leading supplier of complete train system
6. Gustafs Scandinavia - Leading manufacturer of exclusive wooden interiors for public environments for more than 100 years

Students were able to experience the rich campus life and got an exclusive opportunity to attend many informative lectures delivered at the University campus as well as during industry visits. After completing Summer School in Falun-Borlange region of Sweden, students got an opportunity to visit the Nobel Center in Stockholm and other famous attractions like the Vasa Museum, Ice Restaurant, and Archipelago tour. Overall this tour enriched the students and the members of the staff who felt that it was a lifetime experience .
